On 4th and 5th July took place in London the EEMA’s 30th Annual Conference (European Association for e-Identity & Security), a discussion about IT relevant issues.
The theme of the 2017 edition was “Privacy vs Identity – Opportunity and Challenges”. Many experts in the fields of digital identity and privacy met in the Microsoft London Paddington Office during the two-days event.
The challenging question which gave rise to the debate was exactly about the coexistence of these two different spheres: is it possible to identify unequivocally the users of a service (Know Your Customer) guaranteeing a responsible use of the information, without revealing some details unnecessary for the use of the same service which could threaten users’ privacy?
Konfido, indeed, promotes the exchange of medical data in the European Union fully respecting the privacy; so it is an initiative which perfectly matches with the main theme of the Conference (read the article about Konfido). Other important topics of discussion were two European regulations, eIDAS for the validity beyond borders of digital identities and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) about privacy.
Also Bit4id took part in the Conference: Pierluigi Pilla, Head of PKI Competence Center Bit4id, was in London to represent the company in this important opportunity of discussion, networking and divulgation.
